What SEO services do you need to conduct keyword research?

Keyword research is a starting point for any search engine optimization campaign. It is the first step in SEO copywriting that determines the future success of the whole optimization campaign. I am not exaggerating when I say that without keywords, there is no such thing as SEO. Keyword research serves as a guide for your SEO campaign showing you where to go and how.

Over the last few years, search engines have been maximizing the role of keyword relevance signals for website rankings. However, many businesses take this innovation a little bit wrong. In fact, targeted search terms are still powerful and have a significant effect on online business presence. What’s changed is that keywords are no longer necessary to be present in a title tag or heading tags to rank high on Google search results page. Moreover, using the exact search terms and phrases within website content is no longer required. However, it does not mean you should abandon keyword research. Otherwise, you need to pay more attention to this process, searching for the most relevant for your business keyword phrases and long-tail search terms. Nowadays, in the conditions of high competitiveness, it is essential to pick up the exact phrases that maximally meet your potential customer’s queries. However, not only the research but also skillful use of keyword phrases continue to be important.

In this article, we will discuss what the role of keyword research for website development is and what SEO keyword services will help you to develop an effective optimization campaign. Moreover, I am going to show you how keywords are used by search engines to determine website rank and how to rank for high-volume and valid search terms.

How to do keyword research for SEO?

First of all, you should define the goals of your optimization campaign and answer your question what do you want to accomplish with search traffic. I’m going to warn you that traffic boost is not a right goal for optimization campaign. Search traffic is not always targeted and may or may not convert into sales. That is why you need to set more definite goal for high conversion or sales.

So, on the first stage of your keyword research campaign developing you need to define the sales problem and the business goals you want to achieve.

Once you have defined all your keyword goals, it is time to develop keyword categories to address these goals and begin incorporating those keywords into your content marketing strategy.

Money keyword phrases

If you focus on traffic and sales, you need to look for the money phrases. These phrases are associated with a high level of sales. These phrases are highly competitive as they are sales diving and usually result in a conversion. These phrases are also commonly used by as-supported sites as the visitors of such sites are predisposed to make a purchase.

Money phrases are prosperous, but at the same time, they are highly competitive and challenging to rank for. The biggest amount of money keyword traffic is skimmed off through the pay per click ads.

Among the TOP money phrase keyword categories, I can distinguish the following ones: competitor comparison, discount price searches, product reviews and ratings, coupon code searches, and searches for sales.

Non-money keyword phrases

It is not always right to rank only for money keyword phrases. Moreover, not all business can afford to do it. Fortunately, there is another keyword path to building online sales. You can attract relevant traffic to your site pages with the help of non-money keyword phrases. It may sound strange, but you will attract customers with search terms that do not convert. It is a viable path toward eventually ranking for the money phrases.

Developing non-money keyword strategy, you need to make an accent on three tenets - authoritativeness, comprehensiveness and expertise.

The most of the authoritative web sources are awarded money phrases. The site is authoritative when it has a healthy link profile and comprehensive content. Reliable web sources are the kind the search engines prefer to rank.

And although visitors to an authoritative web source will not certainly convert via non-money search queries that the site ranks for, the authority strategy does have the effect of stimulating word of mouth referrals. That is why instead of focusing exclusively on the money phrases, pay your attention to the authority building long-tail phrases. Focusing on the depth of the content, its helpfulness and expertise is an excellent opportunity to rank for money phrases.

Long-tail search terms

Have you ever wonder why so many webmasters try to find long-tail search phrases for their optimization campaign? The answer lies in the exclusiveness and low competitiveness of these words. These words are longer and more specific than general search phrases. In most cases, people use them when they are close to the point of purchase. So, we can claim that long-tail search terms are well-converted and can be highly valuable for online businesses if they are used properly.

Managing long-tail keywords is simply a matter of establishing better lines of communication between business and potential customers who are searching the things you provide.

It should be mentioned that using long-tail search terms you will drow less traffic than you would with the more common phrases. However, the traffic you will see drow by long-tail search terms will be maximally targeted and will result in sales.

Competition for high-volume search terms that bring a lot of traffic for websites can be fierce and visits can be scattershot and subsequently return on investment can be low. This situation won’t happen with low competitive long-tail keywords. Using long-tail search terms you will pull in less traffic, but this traffic will be highly converted as you will be attracting precisely the audience you are looking for. So, ranking for long-tail keywords is a certain path to get a high return on investment.
