What Amazon title guidelines should you follow crafting your product listing?

Titles are effective for ecommerce businesses as they help customers to make a first impression about a brand and click on its page for more details. Unfortunately, many sellers overlook this crucial aspect when selling online. 

The importance of product titles on Amazon can’t be underestimated. They affect how a product is found and perceived by customers, as well as how Amazon ranks product listing on search results page. 

Before we proceed to Amazon title optimization guidelines, I would like to note that most Amazon users are not looking for your store or brand specifically. In most cases shoppers are not seeking any fabulous features of a product as simply do not it exists. That is why it does not make sense to write about your positive product features in the title. Instead of it you should be precise and present all relevant and primary product details. If your listing is not optimized properly, or it is incomplete, it directly affects products discoverability and purchase likelihood. 

Most sellers who invest their time and efforts in listing optimization, believe that it is perfectly optimized and present all significant information about a product. However, this belief is often not aligned with how customers think. If you do not generate a considerable amount of sales monthly, it can be a sound proof of your listing poor optimization. Do not take any chances and take responsibility for your business. 

In this article, I will explain to you how to improve your titles discoverability and improve your brand awareness on Amazon. 

What is the role of your product titles on Amazon?

As the Amazon states each word in the product title is searchable on its own. So, the product title is essential for your business development and sales boost. 

To make your title descriptive and well-ranking, you should not only follow Amazon title optimization guidelines but also include the following attributes into your title:

  • Brand name

Include your brand name in your title if you think it may attract users and make them click on your listing from search. However, do not put it in the first place in your title., unless your brand name is well-known. 

  • Keywords

Make sure you have targeted search terms at the beginning of your title as they are mostly ranked there. Your title is your business calling card, and if the search terms are used correctly there, you will match user’s queries and boost your sales. However, there is not a green light for keyword stuffing. Make sure your title is readable and well understandable.

  • Product features

It makes sense to include the primary product features in your titles such as color, size, and quantity. If you have any other product features that you believe will be important to your potential customers, include them too. However, you should not overload your title with any additional details that you can describe in your bullets or description.
