How to conduct Amazon reviewer search?

E-commerce business is built on two primary aspects quality images and customer reviews, especially if we talk about Amazon. Pictures help people to get a clear understanding of what a product is, while customer reviews help them to decide whether they need to spend their money on it, or not. If you have only several reviews, or the negative reviews prevail on your account, you have small chances to convert product page visitors into paying customers. Reviews are an incredibly critical component of a successful product on Amazon. They help sellers to retail inventory and affect their product ranking positions. That is why the more reviews you have, the higher chances you will sell your inventory over the competition. Reviews serve as the convincing message to customers and make them buy your inventory.

This information should encourage you to make all possible to get as many organic and high-quality reviews as you can. There are numerous proven ways how you can get product reviews. However, you should be aware that not all of them can be effective in our days as Amazon recently changed its ranking policy toward incentivized reviews. According to this update, you cannot ask your customers to leave reviews on your product page in return for the discounts, gift cards, presents, etc. Moreover, I do not recommend to contact Amazon professional reviewers and ask them to leave reviews in return for the free products. You should build your optimization campaign with these Amazon requirements. Otherwise, you are risking to lose all your reviews and observe a drop in rankings.

In this short post, I will explain to you how to conduct Amazon reviewer search and get free and organic reviews that will help you boost your sales on Amazon.

Amazon reviewer search process

  • Research Amazon

On the initial stage of your reviews generating campaign, you need to look up the TOP Amazon reviewers. Searching the Amazon system, you may find a page that lists the TOP 10,000 Amazon reviewers. These list participants are writers and ordinary customers that write interesting and helpful reviews on different products. This list is updated on a regular basis, showing at the TOP the most skillful writers. The TOP Reviewer Rankings showcase the best contributors at the moment, while another rank which is called Hall of Fame honors those writers who have been highly ranked in previous years.

  • Find reviewers who can be interested in your products

It is essential to search for Amazon reviewers who are interested in your product category and niche. They will be most interested in writing a good comment for your inventory. One more plus is that they are most likely competent in what you sell. You can find an appropriate reviewer, looking through the list of his or her interests presented on The TOP Reviewer Rankings list.

  • Send an email to the reviewers that you think competent in your sphere

Once you have selected proper reviewers who can write about your products, you need to contact with them to discuss all required details.

You can write something like this: “I found your account on the list of TOP Amazon reviewers. I noticed that you had reviewed the products in my category. I liked your style of writing and believe that we can be helpful for each other. Would you like to try out my new item ‘your brand, and type of the products + some significant details”? I would appreciate being honest and organic review from you. I hope, we will cooperate in future. Best regards, “your name, company name.”

You should be ready that not reviewers will agree to cooperate with you. However, if you contact a lot of reviewers, you will find some good variants. All you need is to be persistent, and polite.

  • Follow Amazon review guidelines

As I have mentioned at the beginning, Amazon has its own strict rules toward the nature of review sellers generate on their accounts. Amazon makes all possible to provide customers with the most accurate search results. Not organic reviews can mislead both ranking system and shoppers. That is why Amazon tightened the review guidelines, prohibited all incentivized and paid reviews.

That is why make sure all reviews on your product page look natural and bring you only positive results. Asking the best reviewer to create feedback for you, you do not directly break Amazon rules. However, it is better to keep it in secret and make everything look pretty natural. You should revise an obtained review and make some corrections in it to make it looks organic.

One more thing is that you should avoid publishing all reviews at the same time, or generate too many reviews within a short period. It will raise Amazon’s suspicion toward your product page, and all recently published reviews can be removed.

Customers may simply distinguish organic reviews from advertising or paid posts. Fake reviews tend to be longer than average and written like a product description or brochure. Such reviews usually incorporate video materials and images.

How to understand if the reviews are fake?

Generally speaking, it is difficult to evaluate reviews and correctly determine their validity. Fake review detection is correct unless the author of the phony review confirms it. If the company hosts the reviews, it is easy to detect them. For instance, Amazon can research public information and analyze it. As they can track all user activities on a site, it won’t be a problem to detect how organic a certain review is. A lot of unusual behaviors can be detected. However, this data is not available to people outside the platform.

As a rule not organic reviews are posted in bulk and within a few days of each other. This technique is used mainly by new companies. So, it looks unnatural when recently launched products have 100 reviews for a month. Some well-known brands can’t even generate so many reviews per month.

Moreover, such reviews are distinguished by the same wording, and even similarly staged user photos.

Nancy Clark
Hi Sophia, thanks for your kind words! When reaching out to top Amazon reviewers, it's beneficial to consider both those with a large following and those with a smaller audience size. While reviewers with a large following can provide exposure to a wider audience, reviewers with smaller audiences often have more engaged and loyal followers. Hi Nancy! I appreciate your insights on contacting top Amazon reviewers. Just wondering, how long should I wait for a response before following up with a reviewer?
Nancy Clark
Hi Alex! Following up with a reviewer is a good practice if you haven't received a response within a reasonable timeframe. The exact timing may vary, but a general guideline is to wait around one to two weeks before sending a polite follow-up message. This gives reviewers enough time to consider your initial outreach and respond if they are interested. Remember, reviewers are often busy, so patience and persistence are key. Good luck!

Great article, Nancy! I have one question: How important is it to have an existing relationship with a reviewer before reaching out to them?
Nancy Clark
Hi Jacob! Building an existing relationship with a reviewer can certainly increase your chances of getting a positive response, as they are more likely to be familiar with your brand and products. However, it's not always necessary to have a pre-existing relationship, especially when reaching out to top Amazon reviewers. Many reviewers actively seek out new products to review, as it helps them maintain their reputation and keep their content fresh. Building relationships takes time, but don't hesitate to make a thoughtful outreach if you believe your product aligns with a reviewer's interests. Good luck!
