Search demand and content for a UK franchise directory
FranchiseLocal is a UK directory for people exploring franchise opportunities. Its categories help visitors browse by industry, investment and location. The published campaign addressed a competitive market through several distinct groups of commercial and informational searches.

The search challenge.
Franchise opportunities directory
The site needed a wider organic presence alongside established franchise platforms. Rather than treating all searches as one category, the team defined separate priorities for franchise types, investment levels, industries, places and questions asked by prospective franchise buyers.
What the team worked on.
Technical and metadata cleanup
Initial work addressed speed within the CMS constraints, image alt text, robots directives, sitemap coverage and 404 handling. Unique titles and descriptions were added to resolve duplicate metadata.
Campaigns around different buying needs
The link campaign covered franchise types such as home-based and part-time businesses, investment thresholds and industry-specific searches. Each group represented a different way a visitor might choose an opportunity.
Regional and city pages
After competitor analysis and discussion with the client, additional pages were developed for regions, counties and cities in Great Britain. A tailored campaign supported those location-specific searches.
Content gaps and informational searches
The team compared the blog with competing sites, selected missing topics and published new articles. Existing and new blog content also received targeted promotion within the broader campaign.
The before and after comparison.
The published nine-month comparison reports monthly organic visitors increasing from 721 to 2,905 and Google TOP 10 keywords from 86 to 5,782. These figures describe the full campaign, including technical, structural, content and link work; they do not measure franchise sales or the isolated effect of links.
| Metric | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly organic visitors | 721 | 2,905 |
| Keywords in Google TOP 10 | 86 | 5,782 |

A directory can serve several kinds of search intent within the same industry. This project illustrates how page structure and campaign priorities were organized around franchise type, budget, industry and location, with informational content extending that coverage.
These results belong to the original campaign. They do not describe the website’s current performance or predict results for another business.
The work combined technical changes, content and promotion. Today’s service scope, implementation responsibilities and pricing are agreed separately.
