Do you know how much truth is there about performing website SEO on a zero budget?

Taken in general, I personally believe that getting nearly full benefits from employing SEO on a zero budget will be, in fact, a hardly achievable yet still fully manageable thing to do. Of course, given that you’re willing and ready to pay some time & effort for completing this undisputedly challenging task, particularly if you’re completely new to it. All that being said, below I’m going to show you a simple action plan that will help you understand the very basics of the Search Engine Optimization, as well as the right approach to getting down with the very basics of SEO – on a zero budget, and without begging for any third-party assistance. So, below let’s quickly run through the main on-page areas of your website performance, backed with some actionable steps you can instantly try on your own site.

Beginner SEO on a Zero Budget: Key On-Page Elements

Prepare Yourself for Content Creation & On-Page Optimization

Before anything else, when employing the basic optimization strategy with your own hands, the first thing to be done regarding your website’s body content creation & on-page optimization is running in-depth keyword research. Of course, that seems to be a definitely time-consuming and labor-intensive doing, but starting SEO with a complete and well-refined list of the core target keywords – is the only right approach to allow you go any further. I personally recommend you to create the main list of target search terms using a good old Google’s Keyword Planner tool, to proceed with getting it refined to keep only best-fitting keywords using a bit more advanced keyword research tool like Ubersuggest, KeywordTool.io, or any other popular online tool available in the open access.

Get Everything in Place with Titles & Metadata

So, once you’ve got the right keyword glossary to optimize for, now it’s finally time to put them into action. Given that there aren’t too many significant elements found directly on your web pages, make sure to create/reshape each of them based on the following recommendations of the core importance to performing SEO. Here they are:

  • Title Tags – are arguably the most important elements of SEO at the level of on-page website optimization, which define a clickable title for every web page, as well as the way it looks in Google’s search results (a.k.a. “rich snippet”). You should create them all unique, short & concise, and embedded with your most valuable keywords. Make sure to meet the ideal length of 50-60 characters, and you’re done.
  • Meta Descriptions – this second most important type of metadata is displayed in Google’s rich snippets as well. Much like with Title Tags, these elements should provide an enticing message to engage user clicks, in line with providing a concise summary of its related web page. Similarly, Meta Descriptions are coming with the maximum length limited to 155-160 characters, and should be also saturated with your top relevant keywords – note, however, that this time you’d better focus on their long-tail variations (i.e., for better traffic-generating opportunities).

  • Image ALT Tags – are falling into the third primary category of metadata. Everything about Image ALT Tags is actually quite simple – they are simply “telling” search crawlers what your on-page images are all about. Just make sure these alternative descriptions cover the main idea of each related picture, make them embedded with a keyword (when applicable), in line with separating words using underscores instead of dashes – and you’re done.
