You do outbound & inbound Sales :)
Get some ranking and call coming go to them tell them that u have business for them ,give them some value then say i can get you steady business and make your company the leading business in your market for this given area, then if they dont want it ask them to give there written testimonies how well u gave them business and say i will atleast use you as proff i can market to the other company down the road that does the same thing

But of course, if you are in profit via a salesperson you keep them... At a basic as a brand ambassador, then to retain clients and add extra ones too.
I'm curious. As a seo agency, you don't own your clients websites. What's stopping them from keeping all your optimization and leaving you in the dirt

Rivash Harripersad a client can have a certain signed contract though, as for expiration date. Depends how advanced you want to be and the spend involved. Everyone pitches clients anyway.
Yes but my point is nothing is stopping that client to save your optimization. Drop the contract and add it again at a later stage.

Alvon Portis My take on this question? considering there is tooonnns of leaders on tbe internet giving this free information on YouTube, blogs, webinars, etc, free, I don't know what to you have an agency, companies will find you and your email a big researcher so its nothing to just pull up a guy on youtube saying" I will tell you how to get SEO Clients." As an agency, some of us also do there is always good old fashion cold hate got word of , skilks are still needed to get with people I dont know what to the person running the agency is at the real beginner age..

Any stats to back that up? It's a totally different medium. That I know has not converted to cover costs, on numerous campaigns.

I did a direct mail campaign a while back. I spent $800 on mailing and landed 2 clients. I made over $20K over the lifetime of those clients so I'd say it was a good return.
Nat Green direct marketing is real powerful i got a few tricks i use
1) Identify and understand your target audience. 2) Talk to their desire or fear. 3) Create a value ladder with a strong lead magnet or foot in the door offer. 4) Bring traffic to your initial offer. 5) Do a regular follow up. Here is a post on sales follow up.
Plus ensure you have a system whereby you know the correct contact, spend, needs, next availability to possibly pitch, plus always try to meet in person anyway to create a relationship. I used to automate industry news when selling too/ even if the contract/renewal date was months away- was always appreciated.

Then your website isn't built to sell. You need one that is based on solid marketing principles and looks high end then it brings in the right business. I get almost all of my business from my website, the rest is referrals from clients.

Wow a lot of different techniques here. Let me tell you what I think is the best way to reach out to new clients (locally). I write a dm to their business social media page whether that be Instagram or Facebook. I basically tell them how they are ranking low for certain searches and that’s why I’m reaching out. I let them know that I’d like to offer them a free video audit of their digital presence that will include free tips they can use right away. The fact that I am reaching out via social media and identifying a problem & solution but also most importantly offering free value to them is what’s huge. When you reach out via a dm on Instagram or a message to their business account on Facebook I find that I get far more responses than if I send out an email. If I dm/message 3 businesses on social media I normally get 2 that reply back interested to see my video audit and what I have to say. The reason I believe the conversion rate is higher is because a email is more of a private mailbox where anything unsolicited or not at the peak of their interest immediately is probably just ignored. But when you direct message someone you’re basically engaging in a conversation in which a reply is more expected and there’s features that show that you’ve seen the message etc.. that will put the pressure on them a little bit for their reply. Once you get the green light I basically do a screen recording video using QuickTime media player on a MacBook and utilizing a mic that connects via usb and clips onto my collar. I build rapport by introducing myself and my background, and then I give them some free tips that range from utilizing IFTTT to manage one social media account but have the posts naturally appear on all others, to Just setting up an SSL. Simple stuff they can do. After the free tips I have a small keyword list that basically shows how much volume total their most relevant keywords could bring. I show them where their competition is ranking compared to them and let them know that hey your website is receiving x amount of traffic when there’s a large amount of people searching for your specific service or product in your area. I also take the time to nitpick and tear apart their website a little bit because I also offer web design services. But basically the point is: 1.(utilize social media to get the conversation going) - 2.(offer free value to them) - 3. (after the free value basically start pushing your services discreetly showing them the problem and how you are the solution to that problem, show the potential and how you can help them reach it.)

Also I forgot to mention, it’s important to compliment them a lot in the beginning. Tell them what they are doing right. For example “you guys are absolutely killing it with the quality of your photos on your website, that’s the type of content that will really impress a viewer”. It’s important to mix positive feedback when you’re also planning to suggest things they could be doing better or things you feel you could be managing better for them than they are currently.
