Can I use a standard strategy for SEO ignoring search engine brand names?

Based on the most recent release by SEO Search Engine Journal, the US market is dominated by Google controlling about 67% of the local search industry. At the same time, the rest is taken by Bing and Yahoo slicing a combined share of 29%. So, considering their influence over the Web, there must be some not fully discovered ways to get better online visibility.

seo search engine

Most of us believe that high ranking in Google SERPs means doing well elsewhere by default. Unfortunately, it’s not true. That’s why I believe that it is really important to understand what SEO patterns of an individual blog or commercial website one search engine favors over other sites. Let’s face it - such disparity means that you could be taking no notice of some vast business opportunities for your online doing. Before we start, let’s keep in mind that there are just 2 different approaches for doing quality SEO by search engine brand name. In fact, Yahoo and Bing have a union, so here comes a piece of good news - we will have a little less work to do. Only because their search results make the same difference. All we need is to review Google guidelines compared with an SEO search engine alliance of Yahoo and Bing are putting up with.

First of all, let’s start with their mainly comparable properties. Google and Yahoo/Bing are making much the same for:

  • Local Search Results are analogous, as in both cases the page content and optimization works are betting on local-based results and, hence relevant keywords.
  • Paid Search is performed similarly in both cases, acting only as a rented space for the websites.
  • Links are looking like carbon-copies, simply holding significant influence over SEO for any search engine. The rules of the game are same: make sure to embed your web pages with quality links solely.

And here finally comes the checklist of asymmetries:

  1. Keywords
  • Google has sophisticated algorithms to identify both the synonyms and the rest of context leaving the room for your creative content.
  • Yahoo/Bing are better recognizing fully matching keywords.
  1. Wordplay Search Queries
  • Google responding to a double-meaning request is more likely to rank the trendiest websites first.
  • Yahoo/Bing tends to display local results first upon most of the wordplay search queries.
  1. Domain Authority
  • Google recognizes domain age authority, but not as much as quality links pointing to it. Also, Google gives a great favor to domains like .edu and .gov tending to bear fine content and quality links.
  • Yahoo/Bing understand a domain age dominance in ranking while giving a slightly better recognition to .edu and .gov domains.

  1. Flash Mechanics
  • Google has nothing to do with Flash content, it’s simply unreadable for crawling bots.
  • Yahoo/Bing crawl every website equipped with Flash technology at ease, and even give higher ranking to those using it.

As we can see, a sound SEO strategy does depend on these peculiarities and not uniform SEO each search engine observes as bidding. That’s why it is still important to make the right difference between the two divergent worlds of SEO, obviously dominated by Google, yet still ruled and strongly influenced by Yahoo and Bing.

Jack Miller
Certainly, Justin! Organic SEO refers to the process of optimizing your website to improve its visibility and rankings in search engine results naturally. It involves practices like keyword research, on-page optimization, backlink building, and creating valuable content. On the other hand, paid search advertising involves displaying ads in search engine results when users search for specific keywords. These ads are marked as 'sponsored' and are typically based on a pay-per-click (PPC) model. While both approaches aim to increase visibility, organic SEO focuses on long-term strategies, while paid search provides more immediate visibility through advertising.
